Balenciaga is a luxury fashion house that was originally founded in 1919 in Spain by Cristóbal Balenciaga. He was famously known for dressing royalty and aristocrats. After the Spanish Civil war broke out he fled to Paris where his innovative designs swept the people of Paris off their feet.
In 2015 however Georgian designer Demna Gvasalia was appointed the creative director. An alumnus of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, his grasp on mixing luxury with street style cemented his status in the fashion industry.
